Tropical Storm Irene

Is dumping huge quantities of rain. No high winds yet, but we have extra food and water, plus flashlights, candles, and so on. We should be okay.

And it seems to be over

Hurricane Irene, that is. We had a lot of rain early on, some high wind gusts, and lost electricity this morning, but otherwise, nothing much happened. However, I now a nice supply of candles, two new flashlights with batteries, and an appreciation of how very lucky we were not to get hammered like people in other places.
