My friends Todd and Barbara heard my tale of woe and decided to take him to the Thomas J. O'Connor Animal Shelter in Springfield. They're currently running a "feline winter festival" with half-price adoptions, and we figured I might as well see what was available.

I looked at orange cats, a sweet tabby who looked too much like Siren for me to be comfortable with her, and a couple of tuxedo kitties, but the one who won my heart, and is now in my downstairs bathroom getting used to the house, is this gorgeous young fellow:

They were calling him "Santa Paws," but I think I'm going to call him Gil, short for Gil-Galad (or Seregil, or Gilbert). He's silky soft, incredibly sweet tempered, and all but melted into my arms when I held him. I'm keeping him away from Malfoy and Diamond for a week or so, but I think he'll be a wonderful addition to the Triple Felinoid.

Even better...I met the man who fostered Di-Di six years ago! He remembered a little gray tabby with three pretty kittens, and was very happy to learn that she's landed in a loving home. According to him, Diamond was an excellent mother and very affectionate once she got to know you, and I was pleased to tell him that she's still a great little girl.

All in all, a great day, complete with Christmas kitty. Hope everyone else is having a great time! Merry Christmas!

He's already completely enchanted Roomie with his soft coat, beautiful gold-green eyes, and extraordinarily loud purr. Even better, he LOVES to be held and snuggled, and flexes his toes in the most amazing way, all the while making noises like an outboard motor.

I would say I chose wisely, wouldn't you?
