First, went with [livejournal.com profile] helwen, Lady H, Brigit, and Kalliera to Old Sturbridge Village. I bought books (of course) and some excellent fudge, saw beautiful, high quality, American-made quilts for sale in the gift shop, and had to hauled away before I bought some of the beautiful, high quality, reproduction fabric in the said gift shop. :(

Highlights: wild indigo pods ripening so that the purple-blue indigotin showed in the pods; woad, the seeds looking like a spray of purple feathers; medicinal herbs of all types, including monkshood aka wolfsbane aka aconite; damask roses with intense and wonderful scents, and a rosa rugosa that looked as if it had been marbled in pink and white; hens and chickens in the stone walls; bayberry and hops and all manner of herbs useful and delicious. They even had asparagus that had been allowed to go to seed, swaying like a froth of feathers in the wind.

Lunch was at Piccadilly Pub, where I had excellent fish and chips. It was a lovely, windy, cool day, the type that's exhilarating to experience but exhausting afterwards, so I took a nap. Did some sewing this evening and watched TV.

As for the most worthy artisan: unless something went horrendously wrong, [livejournal.com profile] nazrynn was elevated to the Order of the Laurel for her stunning work as an illuminator. I obviously wasn't there in person to welcome her, but I am delighted that her skill and her heart have been recognized in this manner. Congratulations to Mistress Kayleigh!
