Either at home, packing for Pennsic, or over at a non-fannish friend's house. This may be complete and utter proof of my insanity, but right now the vibes I am getting from the whole last Potter book hysteria feel off to me. IF I decide to read the book, it will be when I feel like it, not when author and publisher created hype say I should.

Date: 2007-07-20 11:19 am (UTC)From:Now...if they were saying "You must all purchase and read the book on the first day!" then I'd agree: that's just not on. But do you really think there's something weird about JKR wanting folks to wait until the book is published legally to read it? Or...am I just misunderstanding what you're saying?

Date: 2007-07-20 12:46 pm (UTC)From:I'll be like all the other sheeple, waiting at Borders at midnight. Then, of course, staying up all night to read, which is pretty stupid, considering what I've heard about the thing plus the fact that we're doing our Baronial Pennsic pack out tomorrow. (Going to the storage unit, loading the trailer, etc.)

Date: 2007-07-20 01:39 pm (UTC)From:Last time we went to the party we got to hang out with friends, talk about whatever (_NOT_ HP), check out other books in the store, run into people we hadn't seen in a few years, and get some silly kid stuff (I have a cheap pair of 'glasses' from there). The stores won't be making any money off this book, so they're hoping people will buy other books while they're at the store.
And, likely we will, being book people. There's a magazine issue I want to look for anyway, and a few books I've had it in mind to look for, so I expect I'll make up a list to bring with me.
Enjoy your evening!

Date: 2007-07-20 02:55 pm (UTC)From:As to Pennsic, no kidding. I had a great time in New Orleans, but it has set me back severely on my prep. I've got to finish a couple of pieces of garb for myself, make some stuff for my husband, an entire wardrobe for my daughter and find time to clean the house as we'll have to have people coming in to take care of the dogs while we're gone.

Date: 2007-07-20 04:51 pm (UTC)From:That's what I did, not because I'm a rebel, but because I have a awful lot of things to do from saturday till the end of july. that was the best time for me!
I loved it, by the way (except the epilogue). Even if they were things I did not want to happen, it still made my blood race, and sucked me in.
Have a nice time with it, whenever you feel it!
