Last night I drove over to my local quilt shop to buy this odd magnifying thing that basically fits over my head like a welder's mask and allows me to make the tiny stitches I used to be able to before I started to grow old I needed bifocals. On the way down I drove past the elementary school in Southampton, the town next door. The marquee outside the school had the following items on the weekly schedule:

Apr 15 - half day

Apr 16 - quidditch

That's right. Quidditch. In a little rural town in Massachusetts.

Who would have thought it?

Quidditch? Awesome!

I had so much fun playing that in Salem!

I wish I got to play more often.

I'd've signed up for S.F. but running around in Calif. in the summer time is not a good idea.

I hope that had a good game!

Southampton Quilts. They're wonderful, plus they're near two excellent restaurants (Paisano's, which is great old-style Italian, and Opa-Opa, a fabulous steakhouse and microbrewery).

Evidently it's become a popular fall sport at various colleges. It's still a club sport, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if quidditch went varsity within the next ten years.

I nearly drove into a mailbox from shock. It's great!

Somehow, being the area that it is, this does not surprise me.

We were going to have a qudditch match of SSFFS vs. Hell's Belles (the fencing team), but alas it never happened (at least not while I was there).

Do you mean one of these?
