I'm here, after what seemed like nearly as much flight time as I spent getting to Florence last year. Part of it is probably that I had to walk from Terminal 1 to Terminal 3 at O'Hare (and thank God I sprang for a new suitcase with wheels that work, because otherwise I never would have made it). The one good thing about O'Hare is that they have a really interesting light installation in one of their terminals that consisted of abstract fluorescents over a very, very long slidewalk. The lights change colors according to a set pattern, and it's quite pretty.

Amusing thing of the day: I bought a salad at O'Hare and handed the clerk a $50 bill. The cash register promptly tried to give me change for $4998.00! I WISH.....

DISTAFF exhibition/networking session went extremely well, with cards exchanged and a possible contact gained at a magazine. Article on Impruneta will most likely be in MCT 7, not 6, which is a huge weight off my mind. Met [livejournal.com profile] handspinner, who's sharing a suite with me, and went out to dinner, then off to bed.

Today: sessions and the Evil Book Room....

Oh, I hate that light installation, I used to call it "The Headache Tunnel"!

God, that sounds like my connection through London when I went to DC last year. I had to go all the way across a terminal, get on a bus to another terminal, and then go halfway across that one just to get to the line to be re-screened for security. This is why we need teleporters.

Despite the size, I quite like O'Hare, it's one of my favorite airports. Lots to see and do, I never get bored on a long layover. I go through O'Hare a LOT, since I live in Nebraska, it's the closest major airport.
