Oh wow! That was brutal.

It's almost enough to make me want to see the movie. It sounds bad in the way that Battlefield Earth was bad.

Thank you. My kids have been pestering to see it. I just sent each of them the link to the review. Nuff said.

Too bad he doesn't keep his facts straight. [Paraphrased] "Never in the history of science fiction movies has gunfire ever harmed an alien." Uh, sorry, no.

Examples available upon request.

Truly. Like in Alien or Predator.

I've no doubt it isn't High Art (that was never the Transformers series goal). But the last one was pretty good brain popcorn and much better action than we expected. One the funniest scenes I remember offhand from that one was when the robots (who are really big) were trying to talk to the kid and then his parents were up and walking around in the house and they were trying to keep from being in front of any of the windows :D

btw, on movies requiring a few brain cells, Night at the Museum: Smithsonian, was decent fun.

I scared the dogs by laughing SO loud at the British reviewers' comments!

And my children want to see this? "Ask your father!" (he deserves it)

Ahahahahah FTW! Even the trailers made it look horrible.

I'm not sure, but I get the sense that he didn't like the movie.

Shame about that.

[N]ever in the history of science fiction has an alien been harmed by gunfire.

Would be a great sig. line. He might be right WRT handguns -- but full auto has been known to work.

Not even with handguns. I have a distinct recollection of someone, with a look of resigned disgust on his/her face, dispatching an alien with a single pistol shot to the "forehead", and everyone else standing around effectively going, "Huh! Hadn't thought of that." Can't recall what that was from yet, though.

However, Lieutenant Gorman in "Aliens" killed at least one of the aliens with a pistol (just before the grenade in the ventilation shafts).

And, well, ever watch Stargate SG-1? Sure, in most cases it takes multiple shots, but...

Ah yes, shades of Indy dispatching the swordsman in Raiders. Of course the shrug and sigh were essential -- added to the effectiveness of the bullet :)

Just found this Doctor Who quote:

"Just once I'd like to meet an alien menace which wasn't immune to bullets!"

- Brigadier Alistair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart

It may have been Vasquez, not Gorman, who killed an alien with a pistol. My point remains: It has been done.
