Cold - almost over it.
Work - continues. There's some politicking that I'm not happy about, but after the Agency, it's more than bearable. I'll do my job and wait. It works out better that way in the long run.
Roof - done, and it looks fabulous. I chose a dark brown shingle that makes the whole building look almost organic. I considered white for the heat reflecting properties until the contractor reminded me that I live in New England, not Arizona, and most of the year will want to retain heat rather than reflect it.
One small problem: the roofers spotted some bad flashing around the base of the chimney. The contractor is going to send a sweep out to take a look. I hope it doesn't cost too much, but regardless, it has to be fixed. The last thing I want or need is damage inside the walls or under the shingles thanks to water leaking in through the seam.
Wildlife - there was a HUGE wasps' nest hanging outside the conference room window. I'm talking around 18" long, and shaped rather like a somewhat thicker version of a Doomsday Machine. No one is quite sure how long it had been there, but building maintenance took care of it. The interior was *most* interesting....
Old friends - saw an old friend for dinner last night. We had a great time, and plan to get together again in the near future. She was part of our old gaming group in college, and as redhaired and opinionated as ever. :D
Reading material - I've finally, finally started The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay. Why didn't I read this years ago? Brilliant, brilliant book!
Lecturing - I've signed up to teach medieval patchwork at the Known World Costuming Symposium in October. The hotel is cheap enough that I may bite the bullet and get a single instead of doubling up with friends....
