Unless, by some miracle, Obama decides not to appeal the ruling.

I signed a petition sent b the Courage Campaign this morning asking him not to.

I was thinking the same thing, but I think the Justice Department is required to appeal the ruling, since DOMA is currently the law of the land. Now, if they should happen to put a couple of pre-law-student interns in charge of the appeal, that's another matter....

The case, and therefore the decision, only applies to the Federal government not recognizing state-sanctioned marriages, rather than what to me is much more clearly un-Constitutional, states not recognizing one another's marriages (based on the "full faith and credit" clause). But I guess "states' rights" is a better political rallying cry than "full faith and credit".
