Work - goes on. I'm pretty much used to my new desk, a lot of people are on vacation, and life goes on. I must say that having my need for a pillow and my longer than usual bathroom breaks accommodated is a refreshing and welcome change from the Agency, where I probably would have been forced out for daring to be out for eight days.

Also, may I say that it's really nice to come back from medical leave and find that no one has gone through my desk?

Medical - better every day, and better than that. I found out just how *much* better yesterday when I went to donate platelets. I'd struggled quite a bit to make the necessary hemocrit level of 12.5, even with taking iron supplements and eating extra red meat. I was pretty sure that blood loss from the hemorrhoids was making the difference.

And it looks like I was right. I haven't taken iron supplements since the operation because they cause constipation, and I've been eating more vegetables and fruit than meat. I was fully expecting another deferral -

Nope. Hemocrit was 13.9, the highest I've ever had. Not only that, my blood pressure has dropped twenty points and my pulse is nice and low. Looks like doing my own cooking, and eating lots of plant material, is making the difference. Either way, I'm taking it.

Office - very nice. I think it's going to increase my productivity a LOT. Only problem: hauling all my books up three flights of stairs....

Cats - sleek, purring, and content. Last night all three slept with me, which was sweet but somewhat confining when I wanted to turn over.

Pennsic - I ENVY YOU ALL.
