Had problems using the laptop today - suddenly, without warning, I couldn't save a Word file. Not only that, when I tried to reboot, the file vanished and was unrecoverable. I lost something like four hours worth of work.

Fortunately I was able to reconstruct it, but then I nearly lost that without warning until I saved to a flash drive...and then suddenly the computer started refusing to save to THAT. Fortunately I was able to rename and save, but now I'm really wondering if there's something seriously wrong. And to make it even weirder, I kept getting a screen saying something about my laptop integrated camera.

Computer geeks - what is going on? I kept getting messages like "paging error" and "there is not enough memory to save this file" even though my hard drive supposedly has 85% capacity. Help?

Memory is distinct from disk space. Sounds like you might have a RAM chip going bad.

Sounds like you need to replace/upgrade your RAM/DRAM.

That sucks. Having just gone through laptop dead-on-contact day a couple weeks ago, I know just how that sucks. *hugs*
