First, a final health update:
Went to the doctor on Thursday for a last post-surgical checkup. He's very pleased with my progress and said everything looks great! I thanked him, shook hands, and then thanked his long-suffering nurse, who was my life-line for the first week when I didn't know what was happening and was in a lot of pain.
So the great ordeal is over, and my recovery was infinitely smoother and better than poor Mum's back in 1969 or thereabouts. I'm eating better than I have ever have in my life and have dropped two sizes in jeans (seriously: the ones I bought in the spring that were a little loose to allow for shrinkage *hang* on me now, which likely means Freecycle, even though I love them). Salads and fresh veggies are my friends, big-time.
*******
And that is why I made time to visit the Northampton Farmers' Market before I met C for lunch (at a natural foods restaurant, oddly enough). My haul: cherry tomatoes that were practically incandescent, blueberries, raspberries, spicy salad greens, goat cheese with apricot and almonds, and a loaf of wonderfully fresh, chewy bread. Some of it was more than I'd pay at a grocery store, some of it was less, but it was worth the splurge :)
Then had a nice lunch with C, came home and took a nap. I'm now planning tomorrow, which should involve a visit to the Last Homely Garret and possibly the library, then Concentus practice at T&B's house. Guess who's bringing a salad? :)
