- Thoroughly disgusted with the Tea Party for being obstructionist and the Democrats for caving on so much. Canada looks better every day.

- Writing is going well. I have to finish edits this week and am starting to outline something else that may or may not come to fruition.

- Money has been tight but manageable, barely.

- New crown fits better than the old one ever did, without the annoying occasional lisp I had after the old one.

- Summer party at the office, which I organized, went extremely well.

- Bonus at work allowed me to pay first quarter property taxes, water bill, and buy a stunning book on the Guicciardini quilt in the Bargello. Good stuff all around.

- I'm on vacation all next week and am planning a trip to New York with harpnfiddle on the 10th. Should be fun!

- Siren is holding her own. She's limping a lot but the cancer hasn't spread, her appetite is good, and her kidneys are stable. And she's as loud as ever. So there's that.

- Last night I got birthday cards at choir practice, which was nice. Thursday I'll turn 51, and I plan to celebrate by hitting the gym before I hit Herrell's for my free cone :)

Canada does look better and better every time our government ... does anything, really. I should finish my nursing degree first; I want to be hireable once there.

We have a Conservative leader, but full props to him--he hasn't used his newfound majority government to push through anything massively stupid yet, and it's been nice to get a letup from the attack ads that led up to the last election.

I am also glad I am in Canada, but the American side of me just aches.
