Hurricane Irene, that is. We had a lot of rain early on, some high wind gusts, and lost electricity this morning, but otherwise, nothing much happened. However, I now a nice supply of candles, two new flashlights with batteries, and an appreciation of how very lucky we were not to get hammered like people in other places.

I was doing fine until I started seeing what people are posting on FB from North Adams and surrounding areas. My brother & his family are fine but I can't reach my parents (no surprise, they're back in the hills, but I still worry).

Mostly over. We're getting the wind now, so may lose internet again tonight.

Waiting on what the surge down the Connecticut will do over the next day or so.

Friends up in Charlemont were evac'ed earlier today but were allowed to return home later on, so I guess the worst is over for them. Although I think the town is still cut off from us at the moment. But should be clear tomorrow.

Glad all went well for you today! And yes, we're grateful we aren't living some place like Long Beach NY. Wow...

I'm glad you were out Irene's main path. Even we have had a backwash of rain and wind - that is one HUGE weather system.
