One romance worth reading, that is. I actually downloaded a sample that didn't make me cringe at the writing, the characters, or the material culture of the historical setting.

Also, I downloaded an early Georgette Heyer for the enormous price of $.99. So far it reads like The Scarlet Pimpernel and its sequels, which is good since I really like that series.

Still not going to end up devouring romances the way I glom onto other genre fiction, but it's nice to know that I'm not completely hopeless at being a girl...:)

The tornadoes that swept through Western Massachusetts tracked about half an hour south of me. High winds, heavy rains, and no power for about ninety minutes, but despite some ominous creaking from the trees in front of the house, The Shack and its inhabitants, human and feline, are fine.

My thoughts and prayers to all who were in the storm's path, and all the storms and floods we've had this spring.
