Mitt Romney = Clark Griswold?

If Romney hadn't admitted it, I wouldn't believe it. But Romney, the former governor and present presidential candidate, strapped his dog's crate to the top of his car for a twelve hour drive to Ontario during a vacation in the early 1990s.

I have NEVER heard of anyone doing this to a family pet. Ever. If the pet doesn't travel well, it's time for a petsitter or a kennel. But crating the dog and then putting it on the roof rack? What if it had fallen off?

While we've occasionally joked about car-surfing home, we've never considered putting any of the four-footed members of the family up there.
