That is just appalling. Nine year old children, treated worse than prisoners? What do they think that's going to accomplish? These aren't kids who choose to misbehave and will choose otherwise with enough negative reinforcement! These are truly troubled, mentally ill children who need psychiatric help and understanding.
I'm furious. I may not live in Massachusetts, but I'm still planning on writing someone in the MA legislature about this.
The whole issue is worth reading...there's a *very* scary story about Hillary Clinton belonging to a notorious Bible study group called the Fellowship that is a stealth right-wing "Bible based religion" group/verging on cult. Terrifying stuff all around.
I originally was going to comment because I couldn't get into one of your fics (the sequel to Alchemy RL/SS), but I got curious and read that article. Why do they use this on children and not prisoners or any other form of law breakers?! It's insane! And those people who actually send their kids there, why aren't they charged with something? I think if more people got involved with pointing fingers at the facility AND the parents, there would be something done. Argh. And my poor friend has to go to a state hospital. I'm glad it's nothing like THAT.
