I was pulled over for speeding this morning. While going *with* the flow of traffic, and *after* I pulled over to let the tailgating cop behind me going past.

Said tailgating cop then kept asking me questions that I couldn't hear (because the traffic rushing by on the highway played hell with my tinnitus), ignored my repeated statements that I couldn't understand him because I'm partially deaf, AND handed me a ticket for going a lot faster than I actually was.

I've already requested a hearing on this one. I'm more than willing to pay my traffic fines, but this is a bogus citation and I want my day in Court.

Even better - I then had to go to Athol for the morning because the front desk person there called in sick. So I had to drive an additional fifty miles today (yes, I'm putting in for mileage). And to top it all off, I had to go to the dentist to have the stronger temporary filing put in, then schedule my appointment for the preliminary work on my crown.

Like I said. If this is how the rest of the year will go, shoot me now, Lord.

Hopefully you're getting it out of the way early and the rest of the year will be cake!

the state employee mileage reimbursement rate is 50.1 cents a mile. I will be happy to get you a reference on that if you need one.

ask for the speed gun calibration records, and have a note from your audiologist regarding your tinnitus.

Goodness! I think you got the ticket because you pulled over to let him by.

If everyone was speeding, that doesn't do a bit to help you out. The usual copthink is "this person wants me to pass so they must have something to hide" and will give you trouble during the ticket just to sweat you into revealing exactly how much illegal stash you're hauling.

You can hope that the A55H013 doesn't show up for the court date.

Sorry that you got pinged. Keep us informed upon developments...

Unfortunately, the law in Mass now is that _a_ police officer must show up. Not necessarily the arresting officer.

I got ticketed by my neighbor once.

Hopefully, this is the worst of 2008!

Ugh. Yes, fight that - it sounds totally unfair. My personal opinion (unsupported by any law, of course) is that if prevailing traffic was speeding and you were going with the flow, you shouldn't be ticketed. It's unsafe to keep to the speed limit in a situation like that.

Good luck!

I got a ticket like that once. Went to court and the judge tossed it out and gave the cop a bit of a lecture when the dumb cop let it slip that the only reason I got the ticket was because I was the only one who pulled over and stopped for his lights/siren!!! I'll keep my fingers crossed you got a dumb cop! :)
