Ice storms are not fun

Especially when the !#$!$#@$!$#!$@ Easthampton DPW leaves two feet of solid ice in one's driveway. Roomie called a guy to plow the driveway, thank God, but it was absolutely awful chopping out enough to get to work.

Also, the front steps are two inches of ice so thickly packed that rock salt isn't touching it. We are so doomed until this melts....

Having been through a day of rain on top of snow, creating an amazing amount of slush (which will probably freeze overnight), I'd say we're pretty doomed even after it starts melting. There's a lot of snow out there...

Maybe I should sharpen my ice skates....

Hopefully it melts! We're due to get 40 degree weather in CT. Maybe it will go north.

I worked at my driveway from 2pm to 4:30pm. There's still a couple of hours work ahead of me, but I need to dig out the shop so I can get at my ax.

The ice-pack is just past shoulder high. Each time I swing my shovel at it, another joint in my poor, old body screams out in agony.

I've been snowed in since Sunday and unlikely to get out before this coming Sunday... and the cupboard is not exactly sagging with goods: my last supply run was 20 Jan.

I am goodly and truly ready for Spring.
