Sick day

I went to bed early because I was so tired I couldn't spell...and woke up at 1:30. And could not get back to sleep.

I finally gave up and called in sick around 5:30, when I realized that I simply could not drive to work, let alone function. I then went *back* to bed, where it took me another three hours to fall asleep in any meaningful sense.

Oh, did I mention that I had hot flashes throughout? And then chills?

If it's the menopause, or you suspect it to be so, I trust you've consulted a doctor, and considered Hormone Replacement Therapy? I was about to lose a job from the depression etc when I blurted out to the doctor that I thought it might be menopausal, because of the hot flushes; the HRT definitely saved my bacon! (And continues to do so, about 6 years later. I expect I'll have to come off it eventually, alas...)

I tried going back on the Pill, which helped with a bit with periods and flushing but nothing else; I had some unpleasant side effects as well, so went off it and haven't tried going back on. I'm very reluctant to try HRT because there's a family history of gynecological oddities (my aunt had endometriosis and breast cancer, my mother had uterine abnormalities and nearly died having me, I have fibroids and only one functioning ovary).

I'll ask my doctor, but unless this sort of thing happens much more frequently, I'm not sure the possible benefits would outweigh the liabilities, alas....

With that kind of history, I'm sure your doctor would probably hesitate putting you back on them.

Hmmmm, just reading this after reading your subsequent post about worrying about forgetting words...

Possibly that too is a side effect of hormonal wackiness, in addition to stress, etc.
