My great task is over

Betty's estate settled this week, and the inheritance checks were distributed. This will make an enormous difference in Denise's and my cousin's lives, and I hope Betty is happy that this will be so.

As for me, I'm going to fix up my house, open a retirement account, and enjoy the rest of the summer.....

Thanks. It's been a long, strange trip, and there are times when I swear I hear the phone ring and expect to hear her on the other end.

I deposited the check on Thursday night and treated myself to dinner at a local Chinese place. I made sure to toast Betty with a cup of tea before I ate. She was difficult in many ways, but I loved her very much, and I miss her.
