And it's flat-out HORRIBLE. The only place in the house that's reasonable is the basement, which is where I spent much of the afternoon.
However -
- Friday afternoon I went to the Special Collections room at the Amherst College library. There I examined and began to read the constitutions of the church of Santa Maria dell'Impruneta from 1507. Yes, I know it's thirty years after the death of the bishop who owned the pillow in my icon, but it's giving me some real insight into the town and the church. I'm going to go transcribe the whole thing (seven pages in very clear Humanist hand) on Friday after I get my teeth cleaned.
- Saturday I spent two very productive hours at the Tower Library at UMass, after which I went shopping at Salvation Army and the Hospice Shop. I now own two books, three new pair of pants, and three new tops, all of them suitable for summer. Go me!
- Today was rehearsal, more work on my tunicae, the purchase of fabric for a stola, and rehearsal. But I will always remember it for another reason:
This afternoon Diamond crawled into my lap and cuddled for the very first time. She doesn't like to be handled and has never, ever shown signs of being a lap kitty, so this was a wonderful surprise. What a little darling!

Date: 2008-06-09 04:59 am (UTC)From:Pippin is not a cuddler very often. He might walk across my lap on occasion and bump his head against my hand, but one time and one time only he has actually settled into my lap for about five minutes. He has done it a few more times with my husband. Which makes me jealous . . . . . My husband makes for certain that I know who sat on his lap while I was a work.
