But learning that Jesse Helms, former Senator, reactionary wingnut, and world-class bigot, has joined the choir invisible, is not the worst news I've ever had.

Honestly, I thought he was already dead. But yeah, I'm not disagreeing :)

I am feeling marginally more sympathetic than I did when Falwell died. Of course, when Falwell died I made John's favorite dinner in celebration, so that says little.

I cannot believe the people in the state where I live, who have voted for the most liberal democrats available for governor literally *all my life*, allowed him to make vital decisions for this country for so long.

I think the bastard died in office years ago, but he is just now starting to decay because of his special chemicals, so they are finally going to bury him.

I almost felt sad about going "HA ha" in a Nelson way when I heard. Then I moved on.

Wingnut?

The university's name is not Wingnut. It's Wingate :-)

Really! I don't want to sing "Ding Dong the Witch is Dead", but it's sort of trailing through his head.

I hope he grows a bit more next time around.

(my head, not his head. I have no idea what's going through his head right now, besides daisies.)
