Two friends of mine, T and B, have been looking for a new house. They currently live in a tiny condo with their sixteen year old foster daughter and (sometimes) FD's younger brother, and they are simply running out of room.

T, who works for the local realtors' association, has been looking for a house in a neighboring town. He thought he'd found *the* house: brand new, with big rooms, a two acre wooded lot, within walking distance of the local high school, playgrounds, and suchlike. It was crammed with amenities like a Jacuzzi tub and a beautiful bay windowed bedroom, plus could be painted and carpeted with whatever colors they liked. It was perfect for their needs, including having a bedroom that would have allowed them to have semi-permanent custody of FD's brother.

All was going well, until they got the following news from the building inspector they'd hired:

The Jacuzzi tub was not connected to a drain pipe. Or any other kind of pipe. The inspector found this out only after he'd filled the tub to test its water tightness and then opened the drain.

There's a thirteen page report detailing other construction flaws that probably should have kept this place from getting an occupancy certificate, but after seeing water pouring *through* the ceiling into the kitchen, the inspector basically said "It's time to walk away from this one."

T and B agreed. I can't say as I blame them.

Holy cr*p! Thank goodness for building inspectors! We liked ours a lot -- and so does our realtor. The same team was used for selling our house as buying it :D
