I didn't hear the whole speech, but Sarah Palin evidently said that "the only difference between hockey moms and pit bull is lipstick."
*blinks*
That joke was first used against Bonnie Lindros, mother of hockey star Eric Lindros, by disgruntled Quebecois when Lindros refused to play for the Nordiques and forced a trade to the Philadelphia Flyers. She was widely seen as a nasty, overbearing, and (yes) bitchy "stage mother" who was interfering in her son's career. Sarah Palin surely knows this, being an amateur athlete and the mother of a hockey player. Why is she reviving a misogynistic and not particularly funny joke and using it against herself?
I really want to know.
