Want your employer-based health plan to be taxed? Here's your candidate!

Note also that the supposedly "generous" $5,000 tax credit is less than HALF the usual price for family insurance coverage, and that it would barely cover the cost of private insurance for most single people. Also note that people like me, with a pre-existing condition that could ultimately result in expensive surgery and an expensive recovery, would be virtually unable to obtain insurance.

Nice job, John. I wonder if you would be able to get insurance if you weren't a veteran, in Congress, and married to a rich woman who can pay for your continual melanoma care out of pocket?

This may be a bit weird, but thank you for posting that link. I have a paper to do by Monday that needs to compare the health plans of McCain and Obama. I am taking Public Health Practice for my Master's in Public Health and you have really helped me out.

When I read about this on feministing yesterday, I was freaking gobsmacked.

The only people this helps are the people who can afford it. Everyone else is screwed. It's disgusting.

One more reason not to vote for the bastard.

I just wish it would get some media attention and the results of the report would get written up in less academic language so that the people who need to hear about this the most have an outside chance of learning about it.

I will be so happy when Nov 5th gets here and the election is over and we can go back to ignoring McCain instead of regularly wanting to strangle or have him drawn and quartered. Every time that man opens his mouth I want to pull my hair out!
His campaign and "plans" to "help" the US are abominable!

Don't get me started on taxable health plans....
For small business owners, all health insurance is taxable. Not via the paycheck, but the owner of the business' health insurance is taxable to the corporation, unlike that of their employees. So, ultimately, it's taxed, just not where it can jump out at you.

Just another way of showing us how 'small business friendly' our goverment is....NOT!
