It looks like the UNL football team will be a bowl game on New Year's Day. Since I'll be an official UNL grad student by then, does this mean I should watch the Huskers attempt to grind their opponents into the mud????
Hey, I'm an Ohio State alumna, and I grew up in Columbus to boot. Football is like a religion to me (although like my other religion, I'm not terribly observant.)
I usually watch whatever bowl OSU happens to be in, but half just to see the marching band.
No. My undergrad school was a football power, and my grad school was a basketball power; I never went to a game either place (although I did go to a bunch of concerts and plays :->).
Personally I think football here leeches the alumni contributions away from more deserving departments at University. This mad interest in football is counterproductive in so many ways, however the community loves the revenue brought in from other parts of the state and country so has promoted football in a major way for many, many decades so we're stuck with it. Can you guess? I don't 'heart' football!
