First and foremost, one of the two Russian bots that "friended" has been suspended by LJ. I think they went after this one because it stole the above icon. I'm waiting for the second one to be suspended as well.

Second, Arisia was much fun - I attended several panels, chatted with [livejournal.com profile] jducoeur and [livejournal.com profile] msmemory, ran into about half of Carolingia, attended a panel with [livejournal.com profile] cluegirl on it, admired [livejournal.com profile] aquila_dominus's wonderful hall costume, networked with a potential new Bergentaler, and fangirled the GoH, my old friend Walter. I bought too many books, schmoozed more than is probably good for me, didn't get enough sleep, and generally had a great time.

I also did something social useful: I signed up to be a bone marrow donor. I belong to several very common ethnic groups but there's always the chance that I could help someone who truly needs it, and since I had to work today instead of volunteering, it seemed like the thing to do.

All in all, a good weekend, even if the snowstorm did pretty much double the length of my drive home ;)

*applauds loudly and with much vigor*

I wish I could but when they tested me they said I had some weird antigen in my blood that wouldn't cross match properly. Can't donate blood either, but I can donate plasma. :)

Do you recall which Russian bot it was? Two have friended me, but neither of them seem to be suspended. :/

Good for you! il_grifone and I have been on the register for a long time; I've never been called (typically British but immunologically uninteresting mixture of Norman, Saxon and Celt) but i_g has had second-stage matching twice. Both times he wasn't close enough, but it felt as if he was contributing. I like the fact that the database is international - we've met people who've been donors for people in the US and South Africa.
