Grocery ad "celebrating" Black History Month.

I must say that it's not as bad as the old "Piggly Wiggly wishes you a happy Passover!" ad that the National Lampoon had in one of its True Facts collections, but collard greens and fried chicken really make me wonder....

....you know you're thinking it.

Where's the watermelon? (Holy crap, my liberal guilt meter is off the charts on that one.)

At least no Aunt Jemima products. And the George Washington Carver peanut tie-in required actual thought.

Don't know about the polish sausage, though.

Oh god.

Actually, if they'd done a real soul food ad spread, it would be more OK. Celebrating AA Southern cuisine? I could buy that. This is offensive because it's half-assed.

Still better than the sign that made FailBlog last year, with "Walgreen's Celebrates Black History Month" over a rack of...cotton balls.
