What it comes down to:

They are not getting one !#$!$!@ cent of my money until they reverse this. I rarely use them anyway (mainly for books that are difficult to obtain, even ordering from local bookstores), and this is about the last straw. De-ranking E.M. Forster, D.H. Lawrence, a couple of National Book Award winners, and Alison Bechdel is so far from acceptable that it makes my head explode, and not in the good way.

Even worse...evidently the first hit you get now using their search functional to look for books on gay themes? Is a "Christian" guide to PREVENTING gayness.

FAIL FAIL FAIL FAIL FAIL [livejournal.com profile] amycat59, do you ship to Massachusetts, and can you order non-fiction? I've just about had it.

And Annie Proulx's Brokeback Mountain! And Heather Has Two Mommies! It's just daft.

What exactly do you mean by "de-ranking"? I looked and have no problem finding any of these books or authors. Also, I entered "gay themes" and no where did I see a Christian book on preventing gayness.

"Deranking" means that they have removed the sales rank for certain books. Search results are based on those sales ranks (You put in your search term, and the order that things come up is based partly on sales rank).

Also try searching "homosexuality" in "all departments." What comes up first?

Yeah, just posted that.

I saw that you had as I was typing this up. :)

LOL! I'm too literal, apparently. I thought she meant "gay themes" not "you know, pick one of a dozen gay themed type searches".

Yes, now that I have assuaged my skepticism, I'm outraged too. WTF?

Anyone got a good link on this? Navigating through a bunch of blogs is not something I have time for today.

Ah, okay, you have to look up "homosexuality" then you get the nasty nasties.

I guess it's because I never browse like that on Amazon...I always have a specific author or title to search.
