I hope I haven't made a colossal mistake

A dear old lady I know just forwarded an e-mail to me that urged me not to use the new dollar coins because they allegedly omit "In God We Trust." I sent her a link to the snopes.com page debunking the rumor, plus told her that I had one of the coins and that the motto was on the edge of the coin, along with the date.

I hope she doesn't get mad at me....

I also sent a "reply all" message to a well-meaning friend who sent me an e-mail decrying the "new Muslim stamp." (http://www.snopes.com/politics/stamps/eidstamp.asp) I happened to remember when this stamp came out, which was several years ago when Bush II was President. I didn't have the snopes.com link, but I said flat-out that the stamp was several years old and had been introduced when Bush was President.

I hope I enlightened her and her friends, but she's probably praying for me right now...

I concur with the above folks. My mom sometimes sends me or Lyle things now for us to vet as to their veracity. I've always gotten thank yous, both from her and some of her friends.

Try not to worry. You did what you thought was right and most helpful. It might keep her from saying something stupid in the check out lane where less-kind people would pull out a coin and mock her.
