And I can't help but smirk a little because right wing pundits were making out the failure to bring the Olympics to Chicago as a sign the world didn't really like Obama.
Some folks (surprising me, actually) are somewhat squawky about this, becuase he hasn't actually "done" anything.
I think the mere fact that millions of people suddenly exhaled is worthy of note. And millions more felt that they could actually make something of their lives if they made an effort. And that a good portion of the planet went "oh, huh, hmm...."
I still don't know what to think about this, as he hasn't really had the time in office to do a whole lot yet.
However, I think his merely being elected certainly is an accomplishment in and of itself. It's a pretty big milestone he's passed, and certainly it feels better having him at the helm than more of what we've had the last (excepting this one) eight years.
