First, I'm pleased that the House passed HCR with two votes to spare. It's not a perfect bill (I'm particularly disturbed by the delay in implementation until 2013 - what is the reason for this? If the Republicans manage to get their act together enough to reclaim the Presidency or Congress, it could all be repealed after the 2012 election!) but it's better than nothing, and it promises relief to ordinary Americans. That's good.

That said, I am *extremely* upset by the Stupak Amendment. This would go further than the loathsome Hyde Amendment by preventing the insurance companies that participate in the health insurance exchanges from paying for ANY coverage of abortion.

That's right. Go into the insurance exchange under the new plan and need an abortion? Too bad. The baby will be born without a brain? Without skin? With cancer? With a hole where its face should be? Giving birth will kill you? Continuing the pregnancy will make it impossible for you to have more children? The pregnancy is ectopic?

Too bad. Bart Stupak, Republican-in-Democrat's clothing, cares more about the baaaabeez than the mothers, all of whom are slutty slutty sluts who are faking their medical conditions because no Real Woman could possibly not want another baby, even if its life expectancy is five seconds. In fact, like most anti-abortionists, he seems to have forgotten that these dear innocent feti wouldn't exist at all unless they were INSIDE a living, breathing woman.

Here they are, the men and women who think that a woman is nothing more than a vehicle for bringing a child to term. I would spit at them all for once again reducing women to less than equal:
