The meclizine finally seems to be kicking in, as the afternoon went *much* better than the morning. I rescheduled my two afternoon medical appointments for next Friday, which I have off anyway, and left a voicemail for my doctor's office to get the referral I need to see Dr. McKenna in Boston. Odds are that this is just sinus but I'd rather be sure.

Only drawback: the meclizine is making me sleepy. That means much caffeine tomorrow. Um, yay?

I can't find any information about possible interactions between meclizine and large amounts of caffeine, but you might want to check with your doctor or pharmacist to make sure.

Already did. Coffee, tea, and Coke are fine. Alcohol is a no-no :)

Vertigo always makes me drowsy, and the meclizine helps me wake back up. Different reactions.

I think it was meclizine that some friends were prescribed when one member of the household incorporated under-cooked kidney beans into a salad and they all indulged in synchronised vomiting - I went to see them the next afternoon and found all four of them fast asleep. Powerful stuff. I do hope the vertigo turns out to be your sinuses or viral, anyway. Btw, since I first read that you had an acoustic neuroma, I keep noticing references to the condition (I'm a lay member of the local hospital trust) including a news item saying 'Addenbrooke’s consultant surgeon Mr David Moffat has just completed his 1,000th operation to remove an acoustic neuroma' - I've re-found the article here: http://www.cuh.org.uk/resources/pdf/cuh/profile/publications/matters/matters_win_08_280108i.pdf. Btw, I love Schütz, too.

That article is a very good look at AN's and the surgeons who treat them. I'm being followed by a specialist at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, part of Mass General Hospital in Boston. My tumor is 1.4 mm and has been stable for a few years, so I'm not all that worried about it being the cause of the vertigo. If I go off the meclizine and the vertigo comes back, well, that's another matter entirely :(

True story: back when I was diagnosed, I posted something in my LJ. A few days later I get a *condolence card* from my ex expressing his sorrow that I had brain cancer! I was not pleased, especially since my original post had clearly said that ANs are not cancer and don't ever become cancer.....
