First, Senator-elect Brown, evidently carried away by victory, made a joke about his daughters being "available," followed by a comment about seeing if he could sell them to Mitt Romney's unmarried sons. It was clearly intended as funny, but neither Brown's daughters (one of whom already has a boyfriend) and his wife seemed at all pleased. I have a feeling he won't repeat that any time soon.
Second, and far more serious: evidence has just surfaced that Brown either endorsed or has some sort of connection to a birther who ran as a crank candidate in 2008. Brown himself seems reasonably sane, even if I don't like his politics, but I am *very* uneasy about any hint that he's associated with the birther movement. Yes, they're the fringiest of the fringe, but some of them have called for armed insurrection against "the usurper Barry Soetoro" and for the President, Speaker Pelosi, the Vice President, and Secretary Clinton to be tried before "citizen grand juries" and summarily executed for unspecified crimes. Brown should be disassociating himself from people like that, and that includes the teabaggers who scream that they want their country back. There's way too much violent rhetoric right now.

Date: 2010-01-22 12:55 am (UTC)From:I'm sort of amused though at the ad that appeared on the linked page "Is Obama a Socialist? Vote here". Since I'm from a socialist country (Sweden) I can firmly say that no he most definitely is not a socialist. Not for any sane definition of the term. He is a sensible right wing guy, is all.
It's interesting to note the differences in where the line between political left and right is drawn in different societies.
