One gets the feeling that Plushenko is a bit disappointed

His comments bugged me...calling for rules to be rewritten and someone not doing a quad is not a champion. I found his behaviour very unsportsmanlike.

The part where he jumped onto the gold medalist's position on the platform before taking his place as the silver medalist was disgraceful.

That WAS atrocious! I wasn't able to watch them live, so I saw Plushenko's remarks before I heard about the rest of it. I really expect people at that level of competition to be better behaved, but gee, doesn't seem to happen in figure skating...

I was wondering whether he heard Dick Buttons' commentary and what he thought of it. He had said he wanted to win the 2nd gold like Buttons. But Dick Buttons himself was pretty critical of Plushenko's skating, pointing out that basically all he had were jumps.

I was thrilled with the results - big jumps are good, but if there's nothing between them, what's the point?

I went back and watched their performances, and I have to say that Plushenko was just plain boring. He didn't *do* anything between his jumps, and the last half of his program didn't have much going on except him blowing kisses to the crowd and wiggling his hips. Lysacek, by contrast, never stopped moving, spinning, gesturing, or simply covering the ice. It was interesting to the end.

What gets me is that if you look at Plushenko's face as he finished and waited for his marks, he knew his performance wasn't his best. He didn't have the joyous look of someone who's done a good job - his smile didn't reach his eyes. He may now *claim* to have been robbed, but he knows better. Just look at his eyes as he takes his bow.

He needs a bit Johny weir's grace, who is justified in lashing out because he was robbed, but has yet to do so.

Johnny Weir has been totally gracious in defeat, and I predict he's going to have a brilliant career as a pro, when his grace and emotionalism will really shine.
