Back in the mid-1990s I worked cataloguing a collection of drug abuse treatment literature for a govt. contractor that provided help to drug treatment programs (mostly program evaluation, how to make their programs more helpful). 40 hrs. a week I scanned, abstracted, and catalogued every topic related to drug abuse treatment imaginable, from heavy duty science filled with greek letters and equations to crap spewed forth by the American Family Association which I held off cataloguing until it was too old to be of use. (It was tripe; it had no scientific value. It's only use was as what uninformed people thought. I wouldn't have used it to line my bunny's cage.)

Marijuana is a lot less bad for you than either alcohol or cigarettes. You can't smoke enough pot to get cancer. People don't tend to get violent when smoking pot (unless they are mixing drugs). Guys don't tend to be rapists when they are stoned. There isn't a named syndrome for babies affected by their mom's pot use whilst the mom was preggers but there are loads of papers on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome.

The hypocracy that surrounds the whole war on drug and the preferred treatment that tobacco and alcohol get make me just want to smack uptight conservatives that want to inflict their version of morality on the rest of us.

Marijuana should be legalized and taxed, with the proceeds to go to health care for all! Hippies unite!

And no, I don't toke up but when you read thousands of articles on the subject, it makes you see just how effed up our system truly is.

I just can't stand the thought of more disgusting smoke of ANY sort in my vicinity. Marijuana smoke smells positively revolting to me, even worse than cigarette and deity knows I loathe that. Of course I'm radical - I don't drink or smoke, so I'd just outlaw the whole massive lot of it and screw the "less harmful" aspect. No one NEEDS to drink or smoke, there are NO beneficial aspects to any of it and they both cause far, far more harm than good. I laughed my butt off when they outlawed trans fats. So fat is worse for you than drunk? I've never heard of anyone driving under the influence of trans fats and killing innocent people! Never heard of anyone enraged under the influence of a Twinkie beating their spouse to death!

Sorry, I am a raging "do as thou wilt but keep it the hell away from me" sort. ;)
