[Error: unknown template qotd]No, but I came very, very, very close sometimes with Betty. She was always difficult, but after Mum and Oscar died, and she started listening to Rush Limbaugh, she really became intolerable in many ways. I still have vivid memories of the night just before the 2004 election when she called me to rant and rave about how EVIL and HORRIBLE and AWFUL John and Teresa Kerry were.
It culminated when she threatened to disown me if I voted Democrat. Really. I was tempted to tell her that was fine and dandy with me until I remembered that she had named executrix of her will, and that I *knew* her cousins and her former sister-in-law would swoop in and basically make like locusts in her house if I weren't in charge. So I thought faster than I ever have in my life, and told her that I was voting for Ralph Nader.
She believed me.
And then, before she could start in on the Evil Bold Gays Having Evil Bold Gay Marriages in Evil Godless Massachusetts, I told her a cute anecdote about Malfoy-the-cat, thus changing the subject and saving me from basically throwing away most of my family's heritage because my aunt had gone Tea Party six years too soon.
There are times when I'm glad she died in 2006, because she either would have dropped dead on November 4, 2008, at the news that one of them was now President, or I would have throttled her the first time she told me that the President was born in Upper Volta or somesuch nonsense....

Yep. It probably is. But I still am.

Should have stayed an orphan. (sigh)
