A friend of mine from college died of cervical cancer at the age of 25 because her mother was given DES. I have a mouth full of crowns because *my* mother was given tranquilizers midway through her pregnancy to control the "nervousness" caused by isolation, stress, and the loss of her job and career because a pregnant woman was not fit to be seen by high school students.
I thought we learned better after thalidomide. I am horrified to learn that we didn't.
