Many years ago I found an old dining room chair at an antique store. It cost all of $18 and was covered in hideous pea-green paint. I spent a couple of weekends stripping the paint, and occasionally used the chair for extra guests. I never got around to repainting or refinishing it, but I think it was mahogany.

When IE got into live action roleplaying, he asked if he could use the chair as a throne for his princely courts. I said sure, and he painted the back splat with his royal arms. When he left, the chair/throne stayed in the garage, and he never once asked about it or indicated that he would like it back.

A couple of days ago I offered it on Freecycle because I came to the realization that I will never use it again. A woman wrote in saying that her little boy would love it, so I decided to fix it up before it goes out. It's now blue and gold, with a new seat cover, and looks better than it ever did. I'm making arrangements to have it picked up since the woman who wrote to me lives in my town.

I hope the little boy likes it, and has many, many dreams of being a prince.

Mahogany?

Mahogany, covered with paint?

My inner antiquer is screaming. That's my favorite wood. So much inner beauty.

But I'm also surprised your son didn't want to keep his gamer chair.
