Last week I e-mailed the workshop people at Conbust about possibly holding a costuming on the cheap session. Tonight I got home to find e-mail from Conbust asking me which panels I'd like to be on.
You should probably reiterate the workshop proposal, with information on what you plan to do, what kind of space you'll need, and if you are willing to co-host if they have others interested in the same thing.
Then also give a list of interests you have (or things you've done) that you could be on panels for.
They usually like to have a person who has expertise in something also be on a few other panels, to help round them out. Sometimes, an organizer will end up putting 5 people on a panel that *none* of them proposed, so being able to improvise is very useful.
it's standard procedure at most of the regional cons here in Texas to try to get as much use out of every person as possible - a confirmation of your workshop space would be nice, in addition to the questions, but it's been standard practice here to send every guest or panelist that "what panels would you like?" e-mail, just in case there's some overlap that might be useful. I've gotten one every time I do a workshop, and no matter what I answer I'm rarely actually put on another panel. :)
