I've been feeling sickish for the last couple of days. I've drunk plenty of fluids, taken cold meds, and dutifully gone into work, and thought that I was fending it off.

Until about ten minutes ago, when I began sneezing, my sinuses seized up, and I started to cough. Looks like that most dreaded of fannish diseases, con crud, has won out over my immune system. God only knows if I'm going to make it in to work tomorrow, but I'm going to try, if only because there's junk I don't trust anyone else to do.

*blech*

To make my joy complete, my left shoulder has been giving me grief ever since the big snow last Wednesday. I felt fine while shoveling, but it's been aching and stiff since Thursday, especially when I need to grab something (like the telephone) with my left hand, or reach for something on a shelf above my head. Most alarming of all is the distinct popping sensation that comes and goes, most often when I move too abruptly.

I really hope I didn't tear something. That is the last thing I need.

If I might suggest it, you could consider some Elderberry syrup - an antiviral herbal medication available at Whole Foods. I swear it's the reason I didn't get the swine flu when each of my four children had it in turn (and slept next to me while ill). At any rate, I do hope you feel 100% again soon.

Bleah.

That said, I vote for age over a tear. Take it easy for a bit, and get it checked out if need be. You might just need a little bit of PT to get stronger muscles. (Yes, stronger even than now.)

I don't mean to laugh, but "Con Curd" instead of "Con Crud" was a delightful chuckle at this hour.

Hopefully you just overused it. Feel better soon.

Hm, agree with checking on PT. You're stronger, but the strength may be unbalanced (some muscles working harder, others not enough). That's why I'm finally working with a personal trainer. Go through your dr. and you might be able to get coverage for it. Or your gym may have someone who can go over some of this with you (stretches, exercises, etc.)
