Snowbound until plows come

Tried to get out of the driveway. Road is impassable due to ice and sleet on top of six inches of snow. Got stuck trying to get back into driveway and had to have neighbor push car into driveway to avoid being crushed when/if plows ever come through. Am currently stuck at home.

Will try to get to work in afternoon IF the roads are plowed. Otherwise, not a chance. This is AWFUL.

Hm.... I know I suggested calling hardware stores for a roof rake, but now we have freezing rain here.... if you use a roof rake you have to be careful not to be under the stuff when you rake it down. ALSO! If any of it has frozen into chunks up there already (a good likelihood), chunks can break free and slide down the handle AT YOU, and you would have to dodge those/drop the rake quickly.

It might be better to just call a service.

Strange season - the UK's coldest; impassable snowstorms in the US; massive flooding then Cyclone Yasi in Australia. Hope you are well stocked up with everything you might need for an involuntary holiday and that power and comms stay up. That was the problem here last month - places with power/telephone on poles instead of buried were cut off by the cables snapping under the weight of ice.
