Siren update

Kidneys have gotten worse. Arthritis in both knees. No masses anywhere but around the left knee, which is NOT in the bone. Doctor is sending aspirated material from mass to pathologist, but it may be fibrosarcoma. If that's the case, Siren's prognosis isn't great, and when you add in the kidneys....

My poor little girl. I wish I could spare her what seems to be coming.

I'm so sorry. That's so hard :( I have a 15 year old Lab, and I feel much the same about her decline....

I know. I've raised her from a tiny, squealing creature to the demanding old yowler she is, and I love her dearly. Saying good-bye will not be easy when the time comes - but I'll be holding her and telling her I love her to the end. It's a promise I make to all my cats, that I'll make sure they don't suffer and that I'll be there when the long sleep comes.

I know. It's hard even thinking about it - she was seven or eight weeks old when someone dumped her on my doorstep, and she's seventeen and a half now. She's had a good long life, and she's been much loved.

All I can say is that you will know. She'll tell you when it's been enough. Raggies and Kasha did, and there was just a day when I knew and they were telling me that they were ready to go.

Arrow, my beloved brown tiger cat, did so when he was ready. It broke my heart but I left him go, and I held him as he passed.
