And so the recovery continues...no power at the Last Homely Shack West of the Manhan and no power at the office, so I'm taking a sort of semi-snow/personal day since there is zero reason for me to be at work. Spent the morning at the Panera at Mountain Farms Mall checking e-mail, had a blessedly warm shower at Planet Fitness, and now am holed up at Neilson Library at Smith, where I'll be charging my laptop on the fourth floor this afternoon.

Last night I ended up in bed with tons of blankets, two cats, and a couple of the Lord of the Rings, which I just finished reading for the fifteenth time. Most of the perishables in the refrigerator are probably toast, although the cheese may last for a while. The fridge at work will be Cosmic Horror by tomorrow and I am not at all looking forward to cleaning it out....

I'm glad you and the felines are in one piece and making it through OK.

I'm glad you're in one piece, but sorry you're going through that hassle. Over here, we have the same in reverse -- power outages due to extreme heat. Same hassles, though.

Last night I could see my breath in the house. Not fun, but at least I've learned enough from SCA camping to cover my head and burrow. :)

Isn't the fridge at work always a cosmic horror? XD

This is likely going to include the freezer and the Gabor Drawer. Pray for me :)

I was wondering how things were going up there...at home they had a few inches, and some of my family lost power, but there was nothing major.

Down here in DC we did in fact have snow (first time in October since the 20's....I think), but no accumulation.

I hope you get power back soon! Stay warm and safe!

Also, the cheese if it is a hard or semihard cheese should be fine. Even if you get mold on a hard cheese, you can just cut it off and eat the rest.
