Sort of a melancholy day...the female kitten I was hoping to adopt ended up staying with the guy who'd rescued her from a farm. We didn't find this out until I'd driven all the out to Claverack, and the friends who tried to arrange the adoption were just as unhappy about it as I was.

So - no kitten :(

The neighbor claimed that he'd tried to get in touch with Nan and Geoff this morning, but they were out so he couldn't. Of course he didn't think to leave them a note, or tell them, say, last night so I could have avoided four hours on the road....

Nan was particularly upset because if it hadn't been for the sick litter of ferals, she has several lovely six month old kittens she could have offered me instead. They can't adopt out *any* cats for a year thanks to the FIP, and couldn't even let me in their house for fear that I'd pass it along to Diamond and Malfoy.

Very sad all around.

It was a shame you weren't told before making the drive, and I understand feeling let down after the excitement. ::hugs::
But on the plus, you did get to see friends, the kitten has someone who loves her, and should the lack of kitten continue to feel saddening, there are still more who need homes.
