Let's see...
The Republicans have spent years alienating women, blacks, Hispanics, LGBT voters, and the young. The only constituency they have left is middle aged and elderly whites, so why their presidential nominee just chose a man who wants to dismantle Social Security and turn Medicare into an unaffordable voucher system is beyond me.

2) they believe absolutely and without any doubt that their backers/funders have greased all the right palms to ensure their election, and that,
3) they are actually counting on the controversy to distract people and also on Dem/Ind complacency since too many now believe this choice means R/R stand no chance.
