- Gave double unit of platelets today, acquired a movie ticket and a $10 iTunes gift card as a thank you from the blood bank. This is the first time in about five attempts that I've actually managed to give a double unit. Nice feeling.
- Used iTunes gift card to acquire a few favorite songs, plus several Glenn Miller tunes. I'd always been vaguely aware of his music, but now that I've heard a little? *Man*, but that's nice. Think I'm about to embark on a big band kick!
- In a fit of insanity, I've decided to try the Couch to 5K running program. This is a very gradual, very gentle way of building up running strength to go from nothing to being able to run a 5K in about 2-3 months. I'm just starting out but I can already feel a difference in energy levels. No way my knees will let me run the Boston Marathon, but if this keeps my heart healthy, it's all good.
- Nasty allergic reaction/acne breakout to cleansing products that used to be fine. Very disappointing.
- Gil is now sleeping on my pillow, looking very sweet. He's such a lovely, gentle, mellow cat.
- Life goes on....

On the cleansing products, sounds like maybe they changed the recipe :( I'm back to baking soda and cider vinegar for hair washing and conditioning. Gentle enough to use daily. We do pre-mixed in water so it's all set for taking a shower, and keep them in old shampoo bottles for easy dispensing. Up here we boil the water first (leftover tea water works great), because we have hard water.
I don't really have a particular suggestion on hand/body soap, aside from Dove. I tried some local soap makers, found ones that work, and buy from them.
On clothes detergent we're using 7th Gen unscented. I just found it in the new cardboard containers too, I think at a Big Y. They use a lot of recycled plastic in their containers anyway, but the new container uses even less plastic (lining), and the paper is post-consumer stuff. But most importantly, my clothes don't make me itch. Years ago I used Arm & Hammer, but even their unscented stuff suddenly started bothering me.
