*dances with delight*

In other good news, I have an interview next Friday. The only weirdness is that they want to do skills testing first. Given that I have over twenty years' experience as an office worker, am I right to feel slightly insulted at this? Or what?

I wouldn't feel insulted about skills testing at all.

First, it's probably standard for everyone they consider hiring. Second, they may have experience with some people in the past whose skills weren't up to snuff, regardless of what their resume says. Third, it may help to give them indications of where your true strengths lie, which will help them determine if you're the best fit for the job -- looking for the technical fit as well as the personality fit.

If if they've already had some interaction with you and think you'd be perfect, they should still do the test, as a matter of fairness to all people applying for the position.
