Which means that I cannot go down to Una's house to set up the tent she's loaning me for Pennsic. ARGH. However, I now have all my packing done except for about five things, so that's good.

I've also scrubbed the bathroom floor and will be setting up a behind-the-toilet etagere thingy. Go me.

Hi! Sorry for the random message.

If you're still participating in the DH prediction challenge/ficlet exchange, could you join the comm dh_predictions immediately? The ficlet exchange will begin there Monday, and I need to know how many people are still playing to declare winners and losers.

More info at the comm if you need it. Thanks! Maggie/magnetic_pole

Thanks, but I'm going on vacation imminently and won't be participating. Have fun, though!

My mom needs some info and I'm betting you are just the person to help. We need to know what museums might be interested in some modern, museum quality, quilts. Most of them are whole cloth, but some are applique. Most of them have won prizes at the International Quilt Festival and a couple have been shown at the... um... museum in the Netherlands whose name escapes me, and a couple in Paris.

Try the Los Angeles Museum of Art, the Smithsonian, the Museum of Women in the Arts, the Textile Museum in Washington, DC, the Museum of Modern ARt, the Metropolitan Museum, the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, and the American Museum in Bath, England. All of these have large, comprehensive collections.

Good luck! Do you have pictures anywhere?

I keep trying to get her to give me copies of what she has so I can put them on line.

What about a museum of textiles in Virginia? Ring any bells? She would want to stay in the States. The Museum of Women in the Arts and the Textile Museum in Washington, DC sound like the sort of places she would like.

I'd say any of the Washington Museums would be your best bet. Colonial Williamsburg has some wonderful quilts but no modern ones - although you might want to contact the textile curators there. I think Linda Baumgartner is still in charge.
